England pulled off a big comeback to beat Sweden in an intense UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 quarter-final. They won 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a tough 2-2 tie. England was already two goals behind just 25 minutes in, after quick goals from Kosovare Asllani and Stina Blackstenius.
At first, it looked like the Lionesses were going to lose early. However, late goals from Lucy Bronze and young sub Michelle Agyemang sent the game into extra time. This kept England’s dream of keeping their title alive.
Coach Sarina Wiegman made a game‑changing second‑half substitution. She put in Chloe Kelly, Beth Mead, and Agyemang, and all three helped turn the game around. During the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made two important saves.
Sweden’s Jennifer Falk saved multiple penalties but missed her own shot. Lucy Bronze scored England’s last kick. Then, Sofia Jakobsson and Smilla Holmberg both missed theirs, locking in the win for the Lionesses.
This is the first time any team has come back from two goals down in a Women’s EURO knockout game. England now head to the semifinals, where they’ll face Italy on Tuesday in Geneva, as they keep fighting to keep their title.

What will the 2025 SEA Games cricket be like?
Full details for the upcoming cricket events at the 2025 SEA Games have yet to be confirmed, but the tournament may be smaller in scale than the 2023 edition. The tentative competition schedule for the 33rd SEA Games currently lists only four gold medals for cricket, suggesting a reduced program.
Manchester United have made a fresh bid for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, with a £70m deal that includes £65m in set pay and add-ons. The Cameroon forward, who scored 20 goals last season, wants the move. United want to close the deal fast so he can join their U.S. tour next week.
Ruben Amorim, the new head coach, sees Mbeumo as key and wants him in the squad soon. United had an old bid turned down, but the new offer meets Brentford’s price. If the deal works out, Mbeumo will be their third new player, after Matheus Cunha and Diego León.
At the same time, City have signed Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg for £12.5m. The 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder said, ‘There is already a special connection between Norway and Manchester City through Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb.’
United also want Nicolas Jackson, while Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are set to leave.
India Women sealed a strong four-wicket win over England Women in the first women’s ODI held at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Tuesday, July 15. Chasing 259, the Women in Blue pushed further to reach the target with 10 more balls to spare.
England has started well, with Sophia Dunkley hitting 83 and Alice Davidson-Richards pitching in a swift 53. The hosts posted 258 for 6 in their 50 overs. With that high of a score, the team thought they’d set it hard for India to beat.
However, the Women in Blue stood strong to prove them wrong. Facing early trouble at 97 for 4, Deepti Sharma posted an unbeaten 62 off 64 balls. She worked side by side with Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 48.
Sharma was named Player of the Match for her all-around effort and steady knock. This win gives India a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The second match is set on Saturday, July 19, at Lord’s.
Manchester United have put their move for Bryan Mbeumo on hold after Brentford raised their asking price to £70 million. United offered £65 million and expected to complete the deal soon, but Brentford changed their stance late in the talks.
Mbeumo made it clear he wants to join United. Club bosses Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox believed the deal was close, but now refuse to overspend. They’re waiting to sell or loan out players first to raise funds. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia are all available.
Brentford feel confident as they hold a one-year extension on Mbeumo’s contract. United, meanwhile, plan to wait and see if the deal becomes more affordable.
In another move, Brentford tried to sign Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson but failed to meet his £35 million release clause. Ipswich rejected their offer, which was spread across instalments.
G2 Esports and Hanwha Life Esports took charge of the League of Legends event at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, July 16. Both squads won their groups and are set to advance to the next stage. G2 beat FURIA in 32 minutes, then topped FlyQuest in 34 to rule Group A. Hanwha Life crushed CTBC Flying Oyster in 28 minutes and KOI in 29 to lead Group B.
Cloud9 and GAM Esports are out after two straight losses. FURIA stayed in the race with a 34-minute win over Cloud9, while CTBC Flying Oyster knocked out GAM in 28 minutes. FlyQuest and FURIA meet next for a playoff spot, with the winner to face Gen.G. KOI will take on CTBC Flying Oyster for the last slot in the top six.
The 12-team event has a $2 million prize pool. The champ gets $600,000 and 1,000 club points. All games will move to a best-of-three format from here, with the final set scheduled for Sunday.
Day 5 of the third Test between India and England ended with the hosts winning by 22 runs, putting the score now at 2-1 in favour of the hosts. To this day, it is still being discussed whether Day 3 could have changed the overall outcome of the 3rd Test. It involves English batter Zak Crawley’s alleged time-wasting that infuriated Team India’s captain.
What caused suspicion of delaying tactics?
The main cause of Shubman Gill’s outburst happened when opener Crawley repeatedly backed away from his stance before the third delivery. Bowler Jasprit Bumrah was visibly frustrated, sharing his captain’s thoughts that these are delaying tactics.
Bumrah’s fifth delivery bounced and hit Crawley on the bottom glove, striking his finger. This led the English batter to call for the physiotherapist. England fans erupted with cheers while Indian supporters responded with boos. This sequence ensured that he and Ben Duckett only had to face one more over that day
Shubman Gill’s heated accusation
‘Grow some f***ing b*lls!’, yelled India captain Shubman Gill at England’s batter, Crawley. It marked the height of frustration as the visitors accused the host team of deliberate delaying tactics. Sky Sports later issued an apology for broadcasting Gill’s language, which became the day’s main talking point for both sides.
England fires back, saying the accusation is hypocrisy
The English side claims that Gill has no right to point fingers because his team is also guilty of using the same strategy in previous matches. England’s Tim Southee pointed out that Team India had requested multiple ball changes during the match. There were also prolonged drink breaks and batters leaving the field for unscheduled toilet breaks.
Was there weight to Gill’s accusation of time-wasting?
Whether or not Crawley intended to delay the game is debatable, but it had a noticeable impact on the day’s play. India batter Kannaur Lokesh ‘KL’ Rahul was dismayed because they were hoping to bowl for two more overs. The delay cost the team a strategic opportunity to turn the tide, resulting in their 22-run deficit.
This raises the question — who’s to blame for India missing an over on Day 3 of Test 3? If both sides are guilty of time-wasting, then it can be agreed that both sides share the blame.
Could India have won if it weren’t for the time-wasting?
In theory, yes, India could have won Test 3 if they had one more over and additional time for their bowlers. However, it depends on how effectively they could capitalise on the opportunity.
Still, the chance was slim. India still needed to dismiss England by one wicket or concede 22 fewer runs in the match. Blaming the result solely on the missed over oversimplifies what was a complex and tightly contested match.
Riot Games is changing Teamfight Tactics esports with the TFT Pro Circuit, launching with Set 15: K.O. Coliseum this August. The Pro Circuit will have three major events, starting on August 29, 2025. This new format is set to make the game more exciting for both players and fans.
The first event will feature 32 players from four regions. Out of the 32 players, 28 will earn their spots through their play in Cyber City, while Riot will invite four players based on past success in TFT esports. Plus, Riot has announced the TFT Open in Paris, where 768 players will compete in a huge live tournament. Michael Sherman, TFT Esports Director, says this is ‘the most transformative moment in competitive TFT history’. After a strong finish at the Tactician’s Crown, TFT is ready for its next big step.
South Korea is looking for a city to host the 2026 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). The country’s esports federation, Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA), is asking cities to submit bids for the event from late June to mid-July 2026.
They want one area to handle the main tournament and its qualifier. Cities offering to host both will get a bonus in the selection process. They plan to choose the host city by November 2025.
KeSPA requires venues that seat 3,000 to 5,000 people and hotels nearby with at least 500 rooms. The site must also be available for a whole month to set up and take down the stage and equipment.
Busan and Seoul have strong chances, thanks to their history of hosting major tournaments. Cities must also show clear plans for budget, transport, and local events to help boost tourism.
After losing all three Test matches to Australia, Cricket West Indies (CWI) is asking for help from its biggest cricket heroes. President Kishore Shallow said that Sir Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara have been asked to join a new advisory group. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ian Bradshaw and Desmond Haynes are already a part of the key members.
Australia won the series with a strong 176-run win in the third Test. They bowled out West Indies for just 27 runs in their second innings, the lowest total in West Indies Test history, and the joint-third lowest in the history of Test cricket overall. Mitchell Starc took 6 wickets for only 9 runs while Scott Boland ended the match with a hat-trick.
Shallow said this is a ‘rebuilding phase’ and asked fans, players, and leaders to work together. He said the bowlers show promise, but the batters need serious help right away.
CWI has also called for an emergency board meeting to review the whole series, especially the shocking last game. ‘Progress is rarely straightforward,’ Shallow said. ‘Now is the time to stand even closer as a people’.
