Washington Freedom pulled off a thrilling two-wicket win over MI New York to grab their third straight victory in the tournament.
Mitchell Owen powered Washington’s reply to MI New York’s 189 with a blistering 60 off 26 balls. He hit three sixes in one over and pushed the team to 74/2 by the end of the powerplay. MI New York struck back after Owen fell in the eighth over. Michael Bracewell ran Edwards out, and Trent Boult bowled Glenn Maxwell as Washington lost wickets at regular intervals.
Naveen-ul-Haq and Boult bowled tight overs at the death, giving away little and picking up wickets. Chapman stayed calm under pressure. He hit 14 runs off the 19th over, which left Washington needing three in the final over.
Quinton de Kock’s 55 and Michael Bracewell’s quick 42 helped MI New York reach 188/4. However, their strong total wasn’t enough as Washington Freedom held their nerve.
Everton are set to sign Fulham right-back Kenny Tete on a free transfer after 39-year-old Ashley Young’s contract was not renewed. Manager David Moyes wants to bolster his team to prepare for the upcoming English Premier League season.
Moyes wants to fix the right side of his team’s defence, and Tete, 29, has become his top choice since his contract with Fulham ends this month. The London club wanted to keep him, but Everton moved quickly. Talks over a three-year deal are already at an advanced stage.
Tete has played 14 times for the Netherlands and has nearly five years of Premier League experience.
Moyes has considered several high-profile options, including Kyle Walker of Manchester City, Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton, and Vladimir Coufal, a player Moyes managed at West Ham. However, Tete, who also played for Ajax and Lyon, looks likely to join Everton’s roster soon.
Riot Games has announced a new League of Legends tournament for women in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). The ’Game Changers’ event will start this summer with an inaugural tournament called LGC Rising, and end with a live final in October at Paris Games Week.
Riot said they want to bring the same positive impact of Game Changers in VALORANT to League of Legends. ‘This isn’t just a one-off tournament,’ the company noted. ‘It’s the beginning of a new path.’
The format is inspired by Riot’s successful VALORANT Game Changers, which helped grow women’s esports. Riot hopes to bring in well-known names like G2 Hel, SK Gaming Avarosa, and Vitality Rising Bees. Newer teams from local leagues can also take part.
Many in the community see this as a key moment for League of Legends. With more support and structure, this new league could make the game more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Manchester City has been fined £1.08 million for delaying kick-offs and restarts in nine Premier League games during the 2024-25 season. The club has 14 days to pay the fine, which is less than the £2.09 million fine they received last 2023-24 season.
The Premier League confirmed that City broke the League’s Rule L.33, which states that any club that delays matches without good reasons shall be dealt with disciplinary action. The club’s biggest delay was during the Manchester derby, where they held up play for two minutes and 24 seconds.
Another notable delay happened in November 2024 when City started their match against Tottenham late to hold a short Ballon d’Or ceremony for midfielder Rodri. That moment caused a delay of one minute and 38 seconds.
The League said these delays affect match broadcasts and scheduling. City accepted the ruling and issued an apology, adding they’ve reminded players and staff to follow time rules more carefully.
India and England retire old Test trophies to honour legends James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar. Read more about the new Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
Tendulkar said Test cricket built his career and taught him key life lessons. Anderson called the honour personal and said it reflects the strong rivalry and respect between the two teams.
The trophy celebrates the effort, respect, and long history between India and England. The cricket boards also introduced the Pataudi Medal, which will go to the winning captain at the end of each series.
Anderson took 149 wickets against India in 39 matches, while Tendulkar scored 2,535 runs in 32 games against England. ‘They lit up the game with brilliant performances that have inspired millions,’ said BCCI’s secretary Devajit Saikia. Both players inspired millions through their skill and dedication.
As India gets set for a five-match Test series against England, Steve Harmison is putting the spotlight on Jasprit Bumrah. The former England fast bowler says the series could depend on how many games Bumrah plays.
India hasn’t said yet which games Bumrah will play, considering his workload. However, Harmison wants the team to have Bumrah at sites like Headingley and Lord’s. These grounds are known for sloped fields and often cloudy skies. Harmison believes Bumrah can turn a match around by himself when there are clouds.
Bumrah’s record in England proves the point. He has taken 37 wickets in nine Test matches, with an average of 23.78 runs per wicket. He has also grabbed five wickets in an innings twice and was a key player at Trent Bridge in 2021, doing well with both the ball and the bat.
Harmison also pointed to Mohammed Siraj as an important partner for Bumrah. He called Siraj a ‘dark horse’ because of his energy and the way he moves the ball sideways. He also said India’s fast bowlers might do better in England’s cooler, less tiring weather than in India.
This isn’t the first time Harmison has praised Bumrah. Back in February 2025, he compared the absence of Bumrah to Cristiano Ronaldo not being in the World Cup finals. He also advised India to keep Bumrah in the team, even if he wasn’t ready for the first few matches.
Pardeep Narwal, Kabaddi’s all-time top raider, went unsold in the 2025 PKL auction, leaving fans stunned and the league at a turning point. This piece looks back at his record run, the crowd’s strong reaction, and his next move off the mat. It also asks: Is this the end of a star era or the start of a bold new game?
The electrifying moment: Narwal goes unsold
In one of the most shocking turns in PKL history, Pardeep Narwal, the ‘Dubki King’ and the league’s all-time top raider, went unsold in the 2025 Pro Kabaddi League auction held from May 31 to June 1. When his name was called, not a single team raised a bid. The silence in the room was louder than the cheers he once drew. Fans were left in shock, with many saying he made Kabaddi famous and even likening his impact to that of Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni.
This was the first time in PKL history that its top raider was left out. Narwal, once a top pick worth over ₹1 crore, saw no takers at all. Some teams may have backed out due to his dip in form over the last few years. Others seem to be focused on young stars and new styles of play. Nevertheless, the snub marks the end of an era and the start of a bold new one.
Career flashback: Legacy of a Dubki King
Narwal’s mark on Kabaddi is clear. He was the first to cross 1,000 raid points and still holds the record for most raid points in a season (369) and most in one match (34). He led Patna Pirates to three straight PKL titles and later played for UP Yoddhas and Bengaluru Bulls. Though his form dipped in later years, he stayed a key name in the league and drew crowds just by being on the mat.
Fan outcry: End of an era?
The unsold moment trended on X (formerly Twitter), with fans expressing heartbreak and awe. Quotes ranged from ‘He made Kabaddi famous’ to ‘the Kohli and Dhoni of Kabaddi.’ Some even said Narwal’s omission was like dropping Lionel Messi or Sachin Tendulkar. The emotional response underscored his connection with the sport’s followers.
Narwal’s response: Retirement and reinvention
Days after going unsold, Narwal spoke on Instagram Live and quietly confirmed his retirement, saying his form had slipped and it was time for new stars to shine. He also shared he’d stay in the sport by coaching kids in his home village, helping young talent grow through drills and match play.
Narwal said he owed the game much and wanted to give back at the ground level. He thanked his fans for years of cheers, saying their love kept him strong through both wins and losses.
Tottenham Hotspur is on its way to a rebuild, and right now it’s standing at a turning point. After yet another season that fell short of a good EPL finish, Spurs now faces a crucial shift. With the new head coach, Thomas Frank, eyeing a major squad reshuffle, the next few weeks could define the tone of Spurs’ next EPL campaign.
At the centre of this all is Son Heung-min. The South Korean star and one of the Premier League’s most effective forwards is likely on his way out. Levy also made it clear: Son may leave if an offer of at least €50 million comes. Al Hilal and Fenerbahçe are among the clubs already circling.
As Son edges past the exit door, Levy starts drawing up the future with Frank. The question lies: Is this the rebirth Spurs need or a step they mistook?
Son Heung-min and his decade-long Spurs life
Joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, he brought pace and poise to the front line. Son also offered stability. He carried the club through tough seasons. Even his chemistry with former Spurs star Harry Kane created one of the most iconic duos in EPL history.
Now, with Kane gone and Son’s contract nearing its end, the club appears ready for a new start. Yet, it’s hard not to wonder what’s at stake here.
Levy, Frank, and the new Spurs vision
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s stance this summer was unexpected. Known for clashing with his managers, Levy now trusts Thomas Frank.
At the top of Frank’s wishlist? Mathys Tel, who recently signed a permanent deal effective after his Spurs loan. Alongside him are Brentford names familiar to Frank: Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, and Christian Nørgaard.
While these players bring energy and technical skill, none quite mirror Son’s experience, but still, Frank’s Brentford style didn’t rely on a single star. Instead, he favours shared play—perhaps a sign that Son’s exit could also be Spurs’ chance of structural shift.
The Spurs shake-up: Is this strategy or self-sabotage?
A rebuild is nothing new for Spurs, but this one feels a bit more abrupt. With little time between managerial shifts, the club risks falling into the same trap: constant change without direction. Yet, Frank’s track record offers some hope. He took Brentford from the Championship to 10th place in EPL using tight systems and smart signing.
And while he could be the right man for the job, leading Spurs is a different story. This run is about fighting for the top four, a UCL spot, and trophies—all of which Frank has yet to manage. This, paired with Levy’s short patience with coaches, raises real risk: if results don’t come fast, Frank could become another short-term solution to a long-term problem.
A farewell to a foundation
Son’s potential exit signals the end of an era—a decade of loyalty, goals, and humble captaincy at Spurs. Frank’s rebuild is bold, but it doesn’t always mean right. This summer could spark a fresh start or another regret. Either way, Spurs are all-in on change.
